On this Resurrection Sunday and our 40th Wedding Anniversary, I say, "It is the worst of times and the best of times!" This phrase is taken from the famous opening paragraph of Charles Dickens' novel, "A Tale of Two Cities". It opens, 'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.."
WORST OF TIMES because of this invisible pathogen that has plagued our world. How do you fight/guard against an invisible monster? Well, there is always a Super Hero on the horizon to save the day! And, we who believe in our Super Hero, Jesus Christ, He came and saved the day over two thousand some years ago! The divine timeline of how this stage has ben set, the curtain is drawn, and the script is playing itself out is absolutely SURREAL! This is being called "our new normal"...I'm calling it "our new abnormal." I'm like the old saints, "I don't feel at home in this world anymore." Hebrews 13:14, "we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come..."
BEST OF TIMES because of the awesomeness of God! I'm awed!! God has literally changed the tick-tock-of-time and how we experience it! TIME is on our side to REPENT and acknowledge Him as our Lord & Savior. Time is on our side to put our hands to Kingdom building and purpose-filled tasks. Now is the time to put Passion to Purpose! Now is the time to start that business, finish that business plan, write that book, and do whatever it is that you know must be done. TIME is on our side! God is restoring the years that the locusts and cankerworms have eaten...(Joel 2:25). "In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.." Psalm 37:19
TIME is not on our side to procrastinate, lollygag, and to be lazy! I'm finding this quarantine time to be "heaven here on earth, everyday is like the Sabbath day and having no end/" Why? Because I've had time to complete three client's books that's been on my desk for almost two years; restore my website; clean out some closets; and, so many other things that have gone undone. The Holy Spirit is whispering "use this time wisely and don't let me catch you with your work undone." Remember, the parable about the five wise and five foolish virgins? Well, I don't want to be among the foolish ones!
At the beginning of this quarantine time, I didn't feel rushed. Now, time is moving faster! Even though we're still on lockdown, I've got to get even more so focused with time management! I've got my own books to write and sermons to write. When God lifts this season, He's expecting certain assignments given to be done! I'm really getting in a rush to do the work that has been purposed for my life like never before!
I can go on and on and on...but, I'm just going to stop! Selah!
"How do you feel and/or responding to the time clock of life that is ticking in our world today?"
Make it personal...comments welcomed.....chime in!
Peace & Blessings!
